Advanced Material Science for Tomorrow’s Warships

UK Naval Engineering Science and Technology (UKNEST) is pleased to invite you to
participate in a conference to explore how S&T and new materials can support the
Industry and the RN to deliver the next generation of warships.
The conference will be held on 28th of November (9:30am – 5pm) at the Portsmouth Marriott Hotel, PO6 4SH and will include:
• A series of quick-fire presentations from MOD, Industry and Academia will stimulate and inform panel discussions to facilitate the identification of opportunities / challenges and potential solutions for warships of the future;
• Presentation topics will cover:
o Problems with Materials – Corrosion / cracking
o Structural / preservation and coatings
o Materials for strategic advantage
o Sustainable Materials and Green Steel
o Barriers for using materials and how to overcome them
• An opportunity for MOD, Industry and Academia to share expertise across 50+ organisations and to positively influence the development of the next generation of warship. Supported by publication of a paper post conference.

We welcome presentations from organisations inside or outside the defence sector.
